Narrative for Non-beginners - Now FullJack Hodgins will present a workshop for writers who are yet unpublished or have published little so far, but have ambition and writing experience without the benefit of an editor. The workshop will focus on techniques and skills important to writers of narrative, especially fiction. When calling the office to register please advise as to what you are working on and why you want help. The workshop will take place at the Moose Jaw Public Library in the Taylor Room from 9am to 12pm. Cost is $25, class size is limited to 10. Great Big Book ClubHelen Humphreys will do a Great Big Book Club discussion at this year's festival on her book Coventry. The session will take place Thursday from 1pm to 4pm in the Taylor Room at the Moose Jaw Public Library. Please be sure to read the novel before attending the workshop. Please call the office to register, cost is $25. Slam Poetry Workshop - see posterSean McGarragle will present a workshop for aspiring slam poets which will focus on slam writing and stage presence. The workshop will take place on Thursday from 1pm to 4pm in the South Room at the Moose Jaw Public Library. Writing supplies will be provided. Please call the office to register, cost is $25. Songwriting Workshop- see posterJeffrey Straker is doing a songwriting workshop, "Words and Music-Telling Stories Through Song," on Saturday from 9am to 12pm backstage at the Mae Wilson Theatre. Join him in an interactive discussion on songwriting that will include acoustic performances. He also asks musicians to bring their instruments please! Tubas, trombones, vibraphones, or zithers, all are welcome! Call the office to register, class size is limited and the cost is $25. Kids InkThis year's Kids Ink Program will focus on aspiring writers and will be guided by author and editor Rhea Tregebov. Rhea lives in Vancouver and teaches at the University of British Columbia. She has published six volumes of poetry and five children's books. The workshop will include exercises for 10-13 year old writers and runs from 9am to 12pm on Thursday in the South Room at the Moose Jaw Public Library. Cost is $10. |
