Sharon Butala

Sharon Butala is the author of six novels, three short story collections, four works of non-fiction, two books in collaboration with photographers and has had five plays produced. Rodeo Life is the only play to have been published so far.  She has published articles and essays in magazines and newspapers across the country and in the United States.

 Sharon is the recipient of many awards including the Marian Engel Prize in 2000, and Honorary LLD by the University of Regina and in 2002 became an Officer of the Order of Canada.  In 2004 Sharon received an Honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Saskatchewan. 

Her latest published book is Lilac Moon (2005).  She is currently working on her sixteenth book, a non-fiction, and is about being a young woman in Saskatoon in the late fifties and early sixties, focusing on the unsolved murder in 1962 of a girl she had gone to school with.  It is called The Sweetest Face on Earth and will be published with HarperCollins Canada in 2007.
