Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada Marty Chan
For six years, Marty wrote and performed the Dim Sum Diaries, a weekly humour commentary series on CBC Radio. His kids’ book, The Mystery of the Frozen Brains, was adapted from these commentaries. The novel won the 2005 City of Edmonton Book Prize and Resource Links Magazine listed the novel as a top fiction pick in 2004. His second novel, The Mystery of the Graffiti Ghoul, was launched in May 2006. Marty worked as story editor on the Gemini Award winning kids’ television series, Incredible Story Studio, which was shot in Regina. His television pilot, The Orange Seed Myth, won a Gold Medal in children’s television at the Charleston World Television Festival, and received a Golden Sheaf nomination at the Yorkton Short Film Festival. Currently, Marty is the playwright-in-residence at the Citadel Theatre. He lives in Edmonton with his wife Michelle and their tuxedo cats, Buddy and Max. He’s working on a third kids’ book. |
