Festival audience

Far and Wide  - writers from across Canada - was the theme of Festival 2004 featuring colourful, varied events and presenters from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland and Labrador.  

 Festival 2004 was dedicated to the Canadian Publisher, Jack McClelland.

A Farewell to John Newlove Luncheon

A celebration of the late John Newlove, one of the
 country's most active poets and a mentor to many.

 

"Jack" - A Dessert Night Tribute to Jack McClelland
presented by SaskPower

The Festival pays tribute to Jack McClelland, a giant in the Canadian book publishing trade.  Hosted by Shelagh Rogers.

 

Saturday Night Cabaret
with Anna Baignoche, Michael Simpson and Joe Rosenblatt

Their performance labelled “Mental Moonlight” will dazzle in a fresh, absolutely magical way. Musical styles ranging from folk through blues and jazz, with the occasional reggae hint, Latin jazz overtones and more than a touch of German 1930s cabaret will provide an evening of unforgettable entertainment.

Celebrate another successful festival with a farewell brunch and entertainment by the versatile performers  Anna Baignoche and Michael Simpson

 

Free Reading!

Young Adult writers Kenneth Oppel and Duncan Thornton, both of whom have written very popular trilogies, will be featured in a free afternoon reading 

 

Teen Writing Experience Read-Out

Participants of the week-long teen writing experience workshop share writings completed during their tenure with instructor, Shelley Leedahl.

 

The Book Business and Us

Shelagh Rogers will moderate a panel composed of a writer, a publisher, a bookseller and a consumer on the state of the book business in Canada.
Panel participants: Nik Burton from Coteau Books, Tim Smith, owner of the Oak and Rose Book Shoppe, Brian Fawcett, Katherine Govier, Roy MacSkimming.


"Rohinton Mistry: a Novel approach"

This Governor General's award-winning author and IMPAC Dublin award nominee imparts his exotic worlds.
