Graeme Gibson

Graeme Gibson is the acclaimed author of Communion, Perpetual Motion, and Gentleman Death.  He is a past president of PEN Canada and the recipient of both the Harbourfront Festival Prize and the Toronto Arts Award, and is a member of the Order of Canada.

For almost ten years (in the guise of "The Great Auk"), he organized, and frequently led, birding trips to Cuba and Ecuador. Partially as a result, Gibson
did the initial fund raising and organization for a joint Canada/Cuba training programme for bird banding and migratory studies in Cuba.

Since that time he has been involved with various initiatives supporting the Cuban Museum of Natural History, and to help protect the important wetlands at Ciénaga de Zapata, in the Cuban Province of Matanzas. He  has been a council member of W.W.F. Canada.

Graeme lives in Toronto with writer Margaret Atwood.
