John MacLachlan Gray is a multiple award-winning writer and
composer for stage, television, film radio and print (though not at the
same time). In his life he has been a
playwright-composer-novelist-broadcaster-columnist-satirist-musician and
performer. A hyphenated Canadian.
His stage musicals include Billy Bishop goes to War which was produced on Broadway by Mike Nichols and in London’s West End, and which won the Governor General’s Medal. His other Musicals, for example Rock and Roll, 18 Wheels, Don Messer’s Jubilee, Health, the Musical, Amelia and The Tree the Tower the Flood, were all award winners and produced nationally. For years he wrote newspaper opinion pieces for the Vancouver Sun and The Globe and Mail. But in the last 10 years he has been writing literary thrillers for an international audience. His novels include, A Gift for the Little Master set in Vancouver, The Fiend in Human set in 1852 London and White Stone Day a sequel, both published by Random House Canada. His Latest thriller, Not Quite Dead will be published in November 2007. He also writes the monthly back page column in Western Living Magazine about his dog, Gus. For his accomplishments he was among the first to be inducted into
the BC Hall of Fame. He has honorary doctorates from Mount Allison
University and Dalhousie University. He is an Officer of the Order of
