Saskatchewan, Canada ![]() Polly Horvath grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She has been writing books since she was eight years old. At eighteen she moved to Canada and attended The Canadian College of Dance in Toronto and the following year, The Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in New York. She taught dance in Montreal for thirteen years while writing children’s books. She has published nine books for children and many short stories and articles. Her books have been translated into many languages as well as being published in England, The United States and Canada. She has won numerous awards and honours including a Newbery Honor, two Boston Globe Horn Book Honors, The National Book Award, the Mr.Christie Award, the Canadian Library Association Best Book of the Year, International White Raven, Sheila Egoff Award and many others. Her books have been on the New York Times Bestseller list and Publisher’s Weekly bestseller list and featured on the Rosie O’Donnell Show.
