Photo credit: Olivia Brown Janice Kulyk Keefer is the author of several works of poetry, prose and criticism. Among her awards are first prize in the CBC radio literary competition and the National Magazine Award; Under Eastern Eyes (1987), her study of Canadian fiction from the Maritimes, and her novel The Green Library (1997) were both shortlisted for a Governor General's award. Marrying the Sea, a collection of poetry won the CAA award in 1998, and in 1999 she won the 13th Marian Engel Award. Among her publications are a family memoir, Honey and Ashes: a story of family, a children's book, Anna's Goat, and an anthology of contemporary fiction from Canada and Ukraine, Two Lands, New Visions. Her most recent work is the novel Thieves, which deals with the life of short-story writer Katherine Mansfield. Janice Kulyk Keefer teaches at the University of Guelph, Ontario, and makes her home in Toronto. |
