Dave Margoshes
Dave Margoshes is a poet and fiction writer who lives in Regina. His stories and poems are widely published in literary magazines and anthologies throughout
North America, including six times in the Best Canadian Stories volumes. He’s published a dozen books; the most recent, Bix’s Trumpet and Other Stories,
came out in fall 2007 and won two awards at the 2007 Saskatchewan Book Awards: Regina Book Award and Book of the Year. Bix’s Trumpet was previously
the winner of the John V. Hicks Award from the Saskatchewan Writers Guild while still in manuscript.
Margoshes has won a number of other prizes, including
the City of Regina Writing Award in 2004 and the Stephen Leacock Prize for Poetry in 1996. He’s taught creative writing at the University of Regina and led
creative writing workshops at various locations across the country, and for various age groups. He was writer-in-residence in Saskatoon in 2001-02 and Winnipeg in 1995-96.
