Patricia Pearson

Patricia Pearson is an author and journalist whose work appears most recently in the Penguin Anthology of Canadian Humour.  The Los Angeles Times called
Area Woman Blows Gasket, her 2005 essay collection, “screamingly funny,” but she is also known for her serious writing as a columnist for both USA Today and the National Post. 

Pearson’s first book, When She Was Bad, won Canada’s Arthur Ellis Award for best non-fiction crime of 1997.  Her debut novel, Playing House, was shortlisted for the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humor in 2003, and has been made into a movie by CTV.

Her novel Believe Me, from which she will be reading at the Festival of Words, was recently featured on CBC Radio’s “Between the Covers.”
