Gordon Pengilly was raised on a farm south of Lethbridge, Alberta. In 1971 - 78 he studied at the University of Alberta where he earned a B.A. in Drama and an M.F.A. in Playwriting, the first person to earn that graduate degree. Gordon has written more than fifty plays for television, film radio and stage. His work has been produced across Canada, in New York, Philadelphia, Los Angles, Australia, Japan, Germany and the Netherlands. His screen play Drumheller Or Dangerous Times won the 2003 Writer’s Guild of Canada Jim Burt Prize for Screenwriting. His one -act play The Work Play, which premiered in New York, was made into a short film. Recently, his radio play Seeing In The Dark received the BBC International Radio Drama Prize and was broadcast worldwide this past winter. Also a published poet, Gordon is a former poetry editior for Dandelion Magazine. He has been resident playwright for theatres and institutions across Canada. |
