DAVID ARNASON     2002 Festival
 - born in Gimli, Manitoba, in 1940. 
 - Canadian literature and creative writing at the University of Manitoba, and does most of his writing in Gimli.
 - works include two collections of poetry, Marsh Burning and Skrag, and four collections of short stories.

STEVEN MICHAEL BERZENSKY (SK)     1997 and 1999 Festival
- Poet and winner of the 1998 Saskatchewan Book Award (poetry) for Variations on the Birth of Jacob (The Muses Company, 1998). The cover art work was also his.
- He has taught workshops and courses in creative writing all around Saskatchewan.
- Author of five books including The Blue Pools of Paradise (Coteau, 1983), winner of the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild Poetry manuscript award.

- has written cowboy poetry for adults and has co-authored books for children.

- has served public education for thirty years in varying capacities:
- a book of poetry (Blueberry Clouds), a book co-edited with Angela Ward entitled, Resting Lightly on Mother Earth,  highlighting experiences of Aboriginal teachers in publicly funded schools in Saskatchewan

- author of Joanne Kilbourn murder mysteries.  Deadly Appearance was nominated for the W.H. Smithbooks in Canada award; A Colder Kind of Death  won the Arthur Ellis Award.

 - Governor General’s Award for Poetry, 1969 (Shortlist, 2000)
 - Governor-General’s Award for Fiction, 1980.

- Fiction and non-fiction writer and winner of the $10,000 Marian Engel Award, an annual prize given to a female Canadian writer for life-time achievement.
