Judith Silverthorne is the author of five books, three of them children’s novels; The Secret of Sentinel Rock, Dinosaur Hideout, and Dinosaur Breakout. Her other two books are non-fiction: one is a biography called Made In Saskatchewan: Peter Rupchan, Ukrainian Pioneer and Potter, and the other is Ingrained Legacy: Saskatchewan Pioneer Woodworkers 1870-1930. She won the 1996 Saskatchewan Book Award for Children’s Literature for The Secret of Sentinel Rock, and the same award in 2003 for Dinosaur Hideout. It has also been nominated for the 2004 Willow Awards. Her work has also appeared in many periodicals and anthologies. During the last few years she has also worked as an editor, curator, and a television documentary producer, operating her own production and publishing company, as well as working as the Executive Director for the Saskatchewan Library Association. Silverthorne has lived most of her life in Saskatchewan, and is keenly interested in history and people of the province, which inspires many of her works. She currently lives in Regina with her teenage son and is at work on sequels of her children’s novels, as well as an adult mystery novel. |
